Subject: What does death mean to an atheist?
Author: Sheath

Comment: I don?t believe this for a second. You wouldn?t be on here debating if that were true. Everyone wants to try to convert others to their belief system. Let?s be honest.

No. Not everyone does. Only the people who think they're right do. I'm content with the world I live in, and the beliefs of others as well as my own. And I'm not debating who is right, I'm debating whether or not evolution was the cause of you being atheist, and how not believing in evolution makes you believe in God. Your faith was never in debate, its the way you found your faith that's in debate. Whatever you believe in is illrelevent because you can substitute any religion and the same questions apply.

I was never taught that humans or anything else was created by God. Everything I learned was focused on explaining the progression of life from the simple to complex using chance random processes. Not God.

Most people are aware of the possibility of God well before any other explanation. I do not believe you were unaware of the phenomenon of God for the first 20 or so years of your life. Unless you were secluded from all other human beings, its very unlikely that you've never heard of God, or was at least aware of the explanation. Nor do I believe that college did not give you some insight into such an exceptionally large subject. Whether or not it was "taught" to you is a matter of opinion. Because creationism doesn't require any type of thinking involved. Its a passive experience. You either have heard about it or you haven't heard about it. And you either believe it, or you don't believe it.

Again, I don?t believe this for a second. I believe you have an opinion on origins, but you don?t want to admit it.

Opinion and answer are two different things. I don't need an answer, nor do I have one. My opinion is, I don't care. As I stated before, it wouldn't matter.

Any assumption????? Let?s assume for sake of argument that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God. Let?s assume that it?s teachings on salvation are correct and Jesus is the only way to heaven. The Bible also teaches that you are for Christ or against Christ. There is no middle ground. If you?re against Christ, your fate is eternal suffering. If you are for Christ, your fate is heaven. You would certainly behave differently if believed in God.

No I wouldn't. That's what you would do. Somehow you've concluded that all human beings want salvation from this God. When there's blatant evidence otherwise. I act the way that I do because of what I want, what I know, and what's important. I've thought about it before, and there is a very good rational arugment to believe in God just for the sake of salvation. Its called Pascal's Wager. While its very convincing, its completely subjective. The way I understand the Christian God leads me to believe faith and worship is trivial and arbitrary. The only reason why people would do anything is because God said so. Regardless of how important it actually was to this life.

Absolutely!!!!! All of the evidence presented at the Scopes Trial to support evolution in 1925 has now been shown to be false, even by the evolutionists. Why should anyone believe anything they say? Their opinions change constantly. The Word of God stands firm.

The Scopes Trial wasn't trying to prove evolution.

If the word of God standed firm there wouldn't be dozens of religions.

I don?t now exactly what you want me to say regarding this statement. The Bible is historically accurate in regards to Creation, Corruption, Catastrophe, Confusion, Christ, Cross, Consumation. Everything!!! There are cities listed in the Bible that exist today. There are buried cities listed in the Bible that archaeologists have found proving the Bible?s historic accuracy. There are billions of fossils all over the earth proving a world-wide flood. There are hundreds of languages spoken today proving the Tower of Babel, etc., etc., etc.

There are cities, historical events, people, places, etc. in fictional stories that exist in real life also. Siting those examples as historic fact doesn't mean something written around the world we live in is necessarily true. Besides there are also entire civilizations of people never mentioned in the Bible. There are also dozens of accounts of the creation of the universe and Earth, yet you believe only one of those accounts is true. When there is no evidence suggesting that, other than "Its the word of God." The point being, anyone could have written the Bible, said it was the word of God, and come up with any of numerous origins of the universe.
